Displaying dBV values
A dBV measurement uses a 1 volt reference voltage to
compare the present measurement against a stored relative
value. The difference between the two AC signals is
displayed as a dBV value. The reference impedance setting is
not part of a dBV measurement.
1 To make a dBV measurement, first set the rotary switch
to , , , or .
2 Press for more than 1 second to enter the
multimeter’s Setup mode.
3 Press until is shown on the secondary
display. Press until dBv is shown on the primary
display.
4 Press to save the changes. Press and hold until
the multimeter restarts.
5 Press until the voltage measurements are displayed as
a dBV value, as shown in Figure 2- 10.

To make the multimeter display dBm values again, repeat
step 2 to step 4 and select dBm instead. See “Changing
the decibel display (U1272A only)” on page 136 to learn
more.
Press for more than 1 second to exit the dBV function.
Selecting the frequency test mode, also cancels the
dBV function.
