In a string of batteries, the two batteries at the ends of the communication chain will have a ca-
ble occupying only one of the “daisy-chaining” ports in the HLX+ battery. On each of these two
batteries, the communication port not occupied by a cable will need a 120Ohm terminator plug
installed in the open port (see photo). One terminator plug is included per HLX+ battery.
Each HLX+ battery includes two RJ45 ports, compatible with CAT5 (or greater) cable. These
ports are used for connecting between HLX+ batteries in a battery bank (“daisy-chaining”).
These two ports can be identied as the “daisy-chaining” ports because they are in close prox-
imity to one another.
If you are not using the HLX+ Bridge, and the installation location will go below freezing, then the
configuration is limited to 4 HLX+ in parallel or 4 HLX+ in series, but not both, because, without the
Bridge, the HLX+ cannot coordinate their heaters beyond these configurations.
3.4.5 Storage Mode
The battery can be switch between Active Mode and Storage Mode using the KiloVault iT app.
The battery is shipped in Storage Mode, to switch from Storage Mode to Active Mode long
press the power button for 5 seconds.
Prior to long periods of storage, disconnect the battery from the system, and select Storage
Mode form the KiloVault iT app. In Storage Mode the battery has a low self-discharge rate and
can hold the charge for a longer period of time.
Note:
In Storage Mode, Bluetooth will be turned off making the battery not visible on
the KiloVault iT app. To activate the battery long press the power button for 5
seconds
Caution:
Please leave the battery in Storage Mode during installation. DO NOT switch
the battery to active mode until making sure all the connections are correct and
secure. Connecting active batteries to the system may trigger the short circuit
protection of the battery.
