General Theory of Operation
2015 KitchenAid Microfiltration Wash System
No Filter Cup, No Chopper
The industry’s rst microltraon system is a clear departure
from tradional, passive ltraon because it connuously
lters 100% of the water, reducing the cycle me and energy
consumpon on the heaviest loads.
Similar on the Surface, Radically Different Inside
The only visible ltraon component of the new ltraon
system is the coarse lter in the boom of the tub. The rest of
the high-performance ltraon system is below the tub.
How Microfiltration Works (See Figure 1)
1. Water and food parcles ow through the coarse lter (A)
into the lter housing.
2. An impeller pulls wash and rinse water into the spinning
ultra-ne lter (B).
3. The ultra-ne lter is cleaned by an area of back-pressure
(C) created by two sets of wing-shaped blades located
inside (D) and outside (E) the lter.
4. Food parcles remain suspended inside the lter housing;
ltered water is pumped back to the wash arms.
5. During draining, a secondary pump ushes out food
parcles and soils.
