KMS BUS
The KMS BUS carries all communications between system elements System
Controllers, Reader Interfaces and Lock Controllers. From here on in, this manual will
refer to these as NODES.
The System Controller is designed to power equipment that is connected within the
cabinet locally and is not designed to power remote components. However, the
System Controller can power Reader Interfaces and Lock Controllers if connections
do not exceed fifteen metres. Beyond this Distance the NODES need to be powered
locally with just the data connections wired between cabinets. KMS have designed
the BUS to be ‘free topography’ meaning the data BUS can be run in either a daisy
chain or star wired configuration. A ‘loop’ or ‘ring’ topography must be avoided.
Note: For added system integrity KMS highly recommend a star wire
configuration. It is the installers responsibility to ensure secure and
proper BUS communication cable runs. Ideally these should be within
the fabric of the building in separate containment.
In cabinet wiring supplied by KMS: (Other OEM supplied builds should be wired
using the same cable colour identification and specification.)
