Pump standstill
à
When the pump is at a standstill, establish normal atmo-
spheric pressure in the lines.
Vapors as
medium
The service life of the diaphragm can be extended, if no con-
densate forms in the pump. Therefore:
à
Perform any work with saturated or near-saturated vapors
only with a warm pump.
à
KNF recommends: When pumping corrosive media, flush
the pump before switching off (see Chapter 8.2.1 Flushing
the pump [}33]) to extend the service life of the di-
aphragm.
7.2 Information on switching the pump on and
off
Switching on the pump
NOTICE
The pump should not be started
against pressure or vacuum. This also
applies after a brief power interruption
during operation. If a pump starts up
against pressure or vacuum, the pump
may stall, causing the overload protec-
tion to turn off pump.
à
Ensure that normal atmospheric pressure is present in the
lines when switching on.
à
Ensure that there is no pressure and/or deep vacuum in
the lines when switching on.
Switching off/decommissioning the pump
à
Establish normal atmospheric pressure in the lines (re-
lieve pump pneumatically).
Recommission-
ing
à
Before recommissioning, observe the applicable stan-
dards, guidelines, regulations and technical standards at
the electrical connection.
Inspecting the
pump
à
Inspect the pump periodically for external damage or leak-
age.
