Why does my Kohler 10CCOZ61 Portable Generator shut down by itself?
- KKelly LeeAug 22, 2025
If your Kohler Portable Generator shuts down on its own, several factors could be responsible. First, ensure there's fuel in the tank by replenishing it. Check for any fuel line restrictions by inspecting the fuel lines and tank. Replace the fuel filter if it's clogged. If the fuel pump is defective, check it, keeping in mind its polarity sensitivity. Also, check for air in the fuel system and bleed it if necessary. Other potential causes include the engine being overloaded (reduce electrical load), the engine overheating (check air intake, governor adjustment, and oil level), loss of generator output voltage to the K1 relay (check AC voltage at the rectifier), or a clogged air cleaner (clean or replace the element).
