TP-5648 8/93 Operation 2-7
Fault Shutdowns
Low Oil Pressure
Shutdown Switch
The low oil pressure (LOP) shutdown feature protects
the engine against internal damage if the oil pressure
drops below 7 psi (48.3 kPa) due to an oil pump fault or
other engine malfunction. The LOP shutdown does not
protectthesetfromdamageduetooperatingwiththeoil
level below the safe range—IT IS NOT A LOW OIL
LEVEL SHUTDOWN. The only protection against
running out of oil is to check the oil level regularly and
addoilasneeded.LocationoftheLOPshutdownswitch
is shown in Figure 2-4.
NOTE
Thisis not alow oil levelshutdown. Proper oillevel must
be maintained for low oil pressure shutdown switch to
function.

High Water Temperature
Shutdown Switch
The generator set is also equipped with a high water
temperature (HWT) shutdown switch. See Figure 2-5.
The unit will automatically shut down when the engine
coolant temperature exceeds 230_F (110_C). Cause of
the shutdown must be corrected before the generator
can be restarted.
