All auxiliary connections required are connected and operational.
The lubricants have been checked.
After prolonged shutdown of the pump (set), the activities described in (
Section 6.6 Page 48) have been carried out.
Before commissioning/starting up the pump set, make sure that the following
conditions are met:
The inlet tank, inlet pipe, pump and discharge line have been primed and
vented.
The valve in the inlet pipe is completely open.
The valve in the discharge line is closed.
If the discharge line is equipped with a gate valve, the valve in the discharge line
may remain open as long as there is some back pressure.
The connection for tapping, if applicable, is closed.
If a stand-by heating system is installed, observe the logic diagram.
The shut-off valves in the bypass line are open.
The cooling water system is ON.
The pressure of the cooling liquid at the inlet must not exceed 6 bar / 87 psi.
The temperature of the cooling liquid at the outlet opening must not exceed
50 ºC / 122 ºF.
All temperatures indicated are below the maximum limits.
Throttle the cooling liquid flow with a shut-off element to make sure that the
propeller speed (in the cooling water sight glass) does not exceed 50 to 70
rotations per minute.
Check all pipes, flanges, screwed connections and pipe unions for leakage.
6.3 Start-up
DANGER
Non-compliance with the permissible pressure and temperature limits if the pump is
operated with the suction and discharge lines closed.
Explosion hazard!
Leakage of hot or toxic fluids!
Never operate the pump with the shut-off elements in the suction line and/or
discharge line closed.
Only start up the pump set with the discharge-side shut-off element slightly or
fully open.
DANGER
Excessive temperatures due to dry running or excessive gas content in the fluid handled
Explosion hazard!
Damage to the pump set!
Never operate the pump set without liquid fill.
Prime the pump as specified.
Always operate the pump within the permissible operating range.
WARNING
Pump set with high noise levels
Damage to hearing!
Persons must only enter the vicinity of the running pump set if they are wearing
protective clothing/ear protection.
See noise characteristics.
