6.9Transportingtheoccupiedwheelchairina
vehicle
Evenwhenthewheelchairisproperlysecuredandthe
followingrulesaremet,injuriestopassengersmayoccur
inacollisionorsuddenstop.ThereforeInvacarestrongly
recommendstransferringthewheelchairusertothevehicle
seatwiththeseatbelton.Donotmakealterationsor
substitutionstopointsofthewheelchair(structure,frame
orparts)withoutthewrittenconsentofInvacare.The
wheelchairhasbeensuccessfullytestedaccordingtothe
requirementsofISO7176–19.
WARNING!
Riskofseriousinjuryordeath
Tousethewheelchairasaseatinavehiclethe
backrestheightmustbeatleast400mm.
Totransportthewheelchairwithuserinavehicle,a
restraintsystemmustbeinstalledinthevehicle.Wheelchair
tie-downsandoccupantrestraintsystemsmustbe
approvedaccordingtoISO10542-1.ContactyourInvacare
representativeoryourproviderformoreinformationon
gettingandinstallinganapprovedandcompatiblerestraint
system.
WARNING!
If,forsomereason,itisimpossibletotransferthe
wheelchairusertoavehicleseat,thewheelchair
canbeusedasaseatinavehicleifthefollowing
proceduresandregulationsarefollowed.A
transportationkit(optional)hastobettedon
thewheelchairforsuchapurpose.
Thewheelchairmustbesecuredinthevehicle
witha4-pointwheelchairrestraintsystem.
Theusermustweara3-pointpassenger
restraintsystemsecuredtothevehicle.
WARNING!
Safetyrestraintdevicesmustonlybeusedwhen
thewheelchairuser'sweightis22kgormore
(ISO-7176-19).
Donotusethewheelchairasaseatinavehicle
whentheuserweightislowerthan22kg.
