Clean Hands Section. Section of the PROTECTOR IV tank which contains the Digital Control Box, Motor,

Crib. The ballast, or the open space, between two adjacent crossties.
Digital Control Box (DCB). Used to control the operation of the PROTECTOR IV unit.

Stage One. A display sequence on the LCD which is shown immediately after display of “L.B. Foster.” Stage

Smart Wheel Sensor (SWS). Wheel sensor that recognizes the signature of a wheel passing and communicates
with the DCB.

Wheel Count. Number of train wheels which have been recorded by the digital control box of a PROTECTOR
IV as passing by its sensor unit.
Wheel Frequency. The number of train wheels which must pass by an installed PROTECTOR IV sensor unit
to activate the pump.
