9. Trouble Shooting
Problem Cause/remedy
Stand
The microscope does not respond. Ensure that the AC outlet has power.
Make sure that the stand is connected to the
power supply.
Check the cable connections.
Illumination
The image is completely dark. Make sure that the LED in the built-in transmit-
ted light illuminator is not defective.
Make sure that the aperture diaphragm is open.
Notify technical service if necessary.
The image is not uniformly illuminated. Remove all unneeded filters from the light path.
Focus
The specimen cannot be brought into focus. Use the correct immersion medium.
Lay the specimen with the cover slip toward the
bottom.
Make sure that the cover slip thickness is cor-
rect and that it meets the specifications on the
objective.
Transmitted light
The image is not uniformly illuminated. Be sure that the right objective is being used.
Aperture diaphragm opened or closed too far.
Condenser in incorrect height position.
Unwanted stray light. Clean the specimen and neighboring lens
surfaces.
