thesupervisorpasswordinordertogetaccesstotheThinkPadSetupandchangethesystemconfiguration.
Attention:Ifthesupervisorpasswordhasbeenforgottenandcannotbemadeavailabletotheservice
technician,thereisnoserviceproceduretoresetthepassword.Thesystemboardmustbereplacedfor
ascheduledfee.
Howtoremovethepower-onpassword
Toremoveapower-onpassword,dothefollowing:
Ifnosupervisorpasswordhasbeenset,dothefollowingtoremovethepower-onpassword:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Removethebatterypack.Forinstructionsonhowtoremovethebatterypack,see“1130Battery
pack”onpage77.
3.Removethecoin-cellbattery.Forinstructionsonhowtoremovethecoin-cellbattery,see“1060
Coin-cellbattery”onpage64.Waitforafewseconds.
4.Reinstallthecoin-cellbattery.Forinstructionsonhowtoinstallthecoin-cellbattery,see“1060Coin-cell
battery”onpage64.
5.Reinstallthebatterypack.Forinstructionsonhowtoinstallthebatterypack,see“1130Batterypack”
onpage77.
6.TurnonthecomputerandwaituntilthePOSTends.AfterthePOSTends,thepasswordpromptdoes
notappear.Thepower-onpasswordhasbeenremoved.
Ifasupervisorpasswordhasbeensetandisknowntotheservicetechnician,dothefollowingtoremove
thepower-onpassword:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.WhentheThinkPadlogocomesup,immediatelypressF1.
3.TypethesupervisorpasswordtoentertheThinkPadSetupprogram.
4.SelectSecurity.
5.SelectPassword.
6.SelectPower-OnPassword.
7.TypethecurrentsupervisorpasswordintheEnterCurrentPasswordfield.ThenleavetheEnter
NewPasswordfieldblank,andpressEntertwice.
8.IntheChangeshavebeensavedwindow,pressEnter.
9.PressF10tosavechangesandexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.
Howtoremovetheharddiskpassword
Attention:IfUseronlymodeisselectedandtheuserharddiskpasswordhasbeenforgottenandcannotbe
madeavailabletotheservicetechnician,neitherLenovonorLenovoauthorizedservicetechniciansprovide
anyservicestoresettheuserharddiskpasswordsortorecoverdatafromtheharddiskdrive.Toputthe
systembacktooperationalstatus,theonlyLenovoandLenovo-authorizedservicesolutionwouldbeto
replacetheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrivewithascheduledfee.
Toremoveauserharddiskpasswordthathasbeenforgotten,whenthesupervisorpasswordandmaster
harddiskpasswordareknown,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.
2.WhentheThinkPadlogocomesup,immediatelypressF1toentertheThinkPadSetupprogram.
3.SelectSecurity.
