EnablingordisablingtheWakeonLANfeature
WhentheWakeonLANfeatureisenabledandthecomputerisconnectedtoaLAN,thenetworkadministrator
canstartthecomputerremotelyfromamanagementconsole,usingaremotenetwork-managementprogram.
ToenableordisabletheWakeonLANfeature,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“ThinkPadSetup”onpage80.
2.SelectCong➙Network.TheNetworksubmenuisdisplayed.
3.SelectacorrespondingoptionfortheWakeonLANfeature.
4.PresstheF10keytosaveandexit.

WhenthecomputerwakesonLAN,thecomputerbootsfromthedeviceasspeciedontheNetworkBoot
menu,andthenfollowthebootorderlistontheBootmenu.
TodeneaNetworkBootsequence,dothefollowing:

2.SelectStartup➙NetworkBoot.Thebootdevicelistisdisplayed.
3.Selectabootdevicetomakeitasthetopbootpriority.
4.PresstheF10keytosaveandexit.

Checkingtherequirementsforashupdates
Anetworkadministratorcanupdatetheprogramsonyourcomputerfromamanagementconsole,ifthe

•ThecomputermustbeengagedinthePrebooteXecutionEnvironment(PXE).
•Anetwork-managementprogrammustbeinstalledonthecomputerofthenetworkadministrator.
