Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofthebatterypower.
Introducingthepower-savingmodes
•Screenblank
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffpowertothedisplay,dothe
following:
1.Right-clickthePowerManagerbatterygaugeonthetaskbar.
2.SelectPoweroffdisplay.
•Sleep
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthesolidstatedriveortheharddiskdriveandthe
computerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.To
putyourcomputerintosleepmode,dothefollowing:
1.ClickStart.
2.ClickthetrianglemarkontherightsideoftheShutdownicon;thenselectSleep.
•Hibernation
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavinglesorexitingfromany
applicationsthatarerunning.Whenthecomputerentershibernation,allopenapplications,folders,and
lesaresavedtotheharddisk,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.
Toenterhibernation,dothefollowing:
1.ClickStart.
2.ClickthetrianglemarkontherightsideoftheShutdownicon;thenselectHibernate.
Toresumeyoursession,pressthepowerbuttonfornomorethanfourseconds.
Whenyouarenotusingthewirelessfeatures,suchasBluetoothorwirelessLAN,turnthemoff.Thiswillhelp
conservepower.Toturnoffthewirelessfeatures,pressF9.
Enablingthewakeupfunction
Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmode,andthewakeupfunctionisdisabled(thisisthedefault
setting),thecomputerdoesnotconsumeanypower.Ifthewakeupfunctionisenabled,itconsumesa
smallamountofpower.
Toenablethefunction,dothefollowing:
