Wirelessnetworksetup
Tousethebuilt-inwirelessnetworkcard(the802.11standard)tocommunicate,starttheAccessConnections

Note:BeforeyoustartsettingupwirelessnetworkconnectionsbyusingtheAccessConnectionsprogram,
obtainaNetworkName(SSID)andyourencryptioninformationfromyournetworkadministrator.
AccessConnections,aconnectivityassistantprogram,caneasilyenableonenetworkcardanddisablethe
othercardsondemand.Aftersettingupyourwirelessnetworkingconnection,youcanusetheprogram
toquicklyswitchthenetworksettings.
EstablishingwirelessWANconnections
WirelessWideAreaNetwork(wirelessWAN)enablesyoutoestablishwirelessconnectionsoverremote
publicorprivatenetworks.Theseconnectionscanbemaintainedoveralargegeographicalarea,suchas
acityoranentirecountry,byuseofmultipleantennasitesorsatellitesystemsmaintainedbywireless
serviceproviders.
SomeThinkPadnotebookcomputerscomewithabuilt-inwirelessWANcardintegratingsomewirelessWAN
technologies,suchas1xEV-DO,CDMA,HSPA,HSPA+,3GorGPRS.YoucanconnecttotheInternetor
yourcompanynetworkwiththebuilt-inwirelessWANcardandthecongurationutilitytomakeawireless
WANconnectionandmonitoritsstatus.
