Selectingastartupdevice
Ifyourserverdoesnotstartupfromadesireddevicesuchasthediscorharddiskdriveasexpected,doone
ofthefollowingtoselectthestartupdeviceyouwant.
Note:Notalldiscs,harddiskdrives,orotherremovabledevicesarebootable.
•Toselectatemporarystartupdevice,dothefollowing:

1.Turnonorrestartyourserver.
2.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,pressF10ifyourserverisconnectedtoanetworkandyouwantto
startuptheserverfromthenetwork.Otherwise,pressF12todisplaythebootmenu.Theboot
deviceselectionwindowopens.
3.Inthebootdeviceselectionwindow,usetheupanddownarrowkeysonthekeyboardtoswitch
betweentheselections.PressEntertoselectthedeviceofyourchoice.Then,theserverwillstart
upfromtheselecteddevice.
•Tovieworpermanentlychangetheconguredstartupdevicesequence,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage59.
2.OntheBootOptionsmenu,followtheinstructionsonthescreentosetthestartupdeviceforBoot
Option#1toBootOption#5dependingonyourneeds.Youalsocansetthebootpriorityforvarious
devices.See“BootOptionsmenu”onpage62.
3.PressF10tosavesettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Theserverwillfollowthestartupdevice
sequenceyouhaveseteachtimeyouturnontheserver.
ConguringtheTPMfunction
TheTPMworksasahardwaresecuritysolutiontohelpyoutoencryptdataandprotecttheserver.The
TPMfunctionisonlyavailablewhenthereisaTPMinstalledinyourserver.See“InstallingtheTPM”on
page126
.YoucanpurchaseaTPMfromLenovo.
AfterinstallingaTPM,youneedtocheckiftheTPMfunctionisenabledintheSetupUtilityprogram.
ToenabletheTPMfunctionintheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage59.
2.OntheSecuritymenu,selectTPM/TCM➙TPMSupport.EnsurethatTPMSupportissettoEnabled.
3.WhenTPMSupportissettoEnabled,theTPMStateitemisdisplayed.SetTPMStatetoEnabled.
4.PressF10tosavesettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Theserverwillrestarttoenablethe
TPMfunction.
