Ifyoucannotdiagnoseandcorrectaproblembyusingtheinformationinthischapter,seeChapter8
“Gettinginformation,help,andservice”onpage117foradditionaltroubleshootingresources.
Troubleshootingprocedure
Usethefollowinginformationasageneralprocedurefordiagnosingandtroubleshootingproblemsyou
experiencewithyourserver:
1.Verifythatthepowercordsandthecablesforallattacheddevicesareconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
2.Verifythattheserverandallattacheddevicesthatrequireacpowerareconnectedtoproperlygrounded,
functioningelectricaloutlets.
3.VerifythatallinstalledhardwareandattacheddevicesareenabledintheBIOSsettingsofyourserver.
FormoreinformationaboutaccessingandchangingtheBIOSsettings,see“UsingtheSetupUtility
program”onpage37
.
4.Iftheserverisnotworkingafteryouhaveaddednewsoftware,installedanewoptionaldevice,or
replacedapieceofhardware,removeorreinstallthesoftware,device,orhardwaretoseeiftheproblem
couldbesolved.
5.TurnontheserverandpressEscassoonasyouseethelogoscreentoviewanydiagnosticmessages.
6.Downloadanduseadiagnosticprogramtodiagnoseproblems.See“Usingadiagnosticprogram”on
page111.
7.Referto“Basictroubleshootingtables”onpage112andfollowtheinstructionsforthetypeofproblem
youareexperiencing.Ifthebasictroubleshootinginformationdoesnothelpyouresolveaproblem,
continuewiththenextstep.
8.Tryusingapreviousserverconfigurationtoseeifarecentchangetohardwareorsoftwaresettingshas
causedaproblem.Beforerestoringyourpreviousconfiguration,captureyourcurrentconfigurationin
casetheolderconfigurationsettingsdonotsolvetheproblemorhaveadverseeffect.
9.Useanantivirusprogramtoseeifyourserverhasbeeninfectedbyavirus.Iftheprogramdetectsa
virus,removethevirus.
10.Ifnoneoftheseactionssolvetheproblem,seektechnicalassistance.SeeChapter8“Getting
