Thistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstallthefollowingoperatingsystems:

•MicrosoftWindowsServer2012FoundationEdition
•MicrosoftWindowsServer2012StandardEdition
ToinstalltheMicrosoftWindowsServer2012operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetasthefirststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.IfthemessagePressanykeytobootfromCDisdisplayed,pressanykey.IfthemessageWindowsSetup
[EMSEnabled]isdisplayed,pressEnter.Waitseveralminutesforthesystemtoloadthefiles.
3.WhentheWindowsServer2012windowisdisplayed,configurethelanguageandotheroptionsasyou
need,andthenclickNext.
4.ClickInstallnow.
5.TypeyourproductkeyandthenclickNext.
6.SelecttheWindowsoperatingsystemeditionthatyouwanttoinstall.Then,clickNext.Thefollowing
stepsarebasedonthescenariothatWindowsServer2012Standard(ServerwithaGUI)isselected
inthisstep.
Note:SkipthisstepifyouareinstallingtheWindowsServer2012FoundationEdition.
7.ReadthelicensetermsandselectIacceptthelicenseterms.ClickNext.
8.Selectthetypeofinstallationasyouneed.ThefollowingstepsarebasedonthescenariothatCustom:
InstallWindowsonly(Advanced)isselectedinthisstep.
9.Dependingontheconfiguration,dothefollowing:
•IftheserverconfigurationissetasRAID,dothefollowing:
a.IntheWheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?window,connecttheUSBstoragedevicethat
containsthedrivertoyourserverandthenclickLoadDriver.
b.WhentheLoadDriverwindowisdisplayed,clickBrowsetogotothefolderwherethedriver
isstored.
c.ClickOK.TheSelectthedrivertobeinstalledwindowisdisplayed.
d.SelectHidedriversthataren’tcompatiblewiththehardwareonthiscomputer,andthen
selectthedriverthatyouwanttoinstallonyourserver.ClickNext.
•IftheserverconfigurationissetasIDEorAHCI,gotonextstep.
Note:ForservermodelswiththeAHCIconfiguration,ensurethatyouinstallAHCIdriversafter
operatingsysteminstallation.See“InstallingthedriverfortheSATAAHCI”onpage43.
10.IntheWheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?window,clickDriveoptions(advanced).
11.Selecttheharddiskdriveonwhichyouwanttoinstalltheoperatingsystem,andthenclickNew.
12.Typetheamountofspace(inMB),andthenclickApply.
13.IntheWindowsSetupwindow,clickOK.
14.Ensurethatthedrivepartitioniscorrect,andthenclickNext.Theinstallationbegins.
