CAUTION: 
The battery is a lithium ion battery. To avoid possible explosion, do not burn the battery. Exchange it 
only with the approved part. Recycle or discard the battery as instructed by local regulations. 
Attention: 
•  Go over “Installation Guidelines” on page 107 to ensure that you work safely.
•  Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see 
“Power off the server” on page 12).
•  If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, 
or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure
Step 1.  Make preparations for this task. 
a.  Remove the top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 214).
b.  Remove the system board air baffle (see “Remove the system board air baffle” on page 200) or 
the processor and memory expansion tray and the expansion tray air baffle (see “Remove the 
processor and memory expansion tray” on page 190).
c.  Remove the PCIe riser assembly in riser zone 1 (see “Remove the PCIe riser assembly from 
zone 1” on page 158).
d.  If OCP adapter air baffle has been installed, remove it.
