position from P.
When the EV system cannot
be started even though the
correct starting procedure is
being followed
Cause Remedy
The charging cable
may be connected
to the vehicle.
Remove the
charging connector.
If the smart access
system with
push-button start
has been disabled
by a setting, the
electronic key may
not operate nor-
mally.
Make sure that the
smart access sys-
tem with push-but-
ton start has not
been disabled by a
customization set-
ting. If the function
has been disabled,
enable it.
If the electronic key
has been set to bat-
tery saving mode, it
may not operate
normally.
Check if electronic
key has been set to
battery saving
mode. If it is, cancel
the mode.
The traction battery
may be completely
discharged.
Charge the traction
battery.
There may be a mal-
function in the
immobilizer system.
 If the key is touch-
ing or is covered
by a metallic
object, move the
key away from the
object.
 If the key is near to
or touching a key
to the security sys-
tem (key with a
built-in transpon-
der chip) of
another vehicle,
move the key
away from the
other key.
The EV system may
be malfunctioning
due to an electrical
problem such as
electronic key bat-
tery depletion or a
blown fuse.
However, depend-
ing on the type of
malfunction, a tem-
porary measure is
available to start the
EV system.
There may be a mal-
function in the shift
control system.

Contact your Lexus
dealer.
There is a possibility
that the temperature
of the EV battery
(traction battery) is
extremely low
(approximately
below -22°F
[-30°C]).
Try to start the EV
system again after
the temperature of
the EV battery
increases due to the
outside tempera-
ture increase etc.
