6.9. How to check the resistance of the motor phases
Configure your multimeter
o Choose resistance
measurement
o Test prods into its provided
sockets (black to COM & red
to Ω)
The measurement is easier by using
those crocodile clips
Connect the measuring clips to the
motor phases (3 different steps L1
to L2, L2 to L3 and L3 to L1)
Check whether the resistance between the motor phases are on the same level. The following
list gives a rough resistance value of the motor phases separated by the different motor types.
The value is depending a lot on several conditions (accuracy of the multimeter/measuring with
or without submersible cable/…), therefore it is more important that the resistance is on the
same level.
