6.4. How to check the power supply in the PS2 controller
The PS2 controller uses three different voltage levels:
15 V level on the Power-Board
o Powered by the PV
24 V level on the IO-Board
o Powered by the 15 V level on the Power-Board
5 V level on the Main-Board
o Powered by the 15 V level on the Power-Board
The 5 V and 24 V measuring points are easily accessible. The 5 V and 24 V are supplied by the 15
V-level. Therefore, it could happen that 5 V and 24 V are not present and functional because the
15 V level is defective. Please see the following table to identify which board needs to be
replaced:
5 V-level
24 V-level
replace Board
functional
not detectable
IO-Board
not detectable
functional
Main-Board

likely Power-Board;
if not successful also replace
the IO-Board and Main-Board
Please perform the following steps to check both easily accessible voltage levels.
5 V voltage level
Configure your multimeter
o Choose voltage DC
measurement
o Test prods into its provided
sockets (black to COM & red to
V DC)
