5.6 Testing
5.6.1 Preparing for Testing
5.6.1.1 Preparing the Subject
The subject should sit at a distance of at least 1 m from the device.
Prior to hearing threshold level measurements, the following instructions should be given.
"You will now hear a variety of tones with various loudness levels, raise your hand,
or press the response switch, as soon as you hear the tone in either ear.“
NOTE: This is an example of subject preparation. Each state may have their own
preparation procedure. Contact your state health department for guidelines in your area.
5.6.1.2 Placement of Headphones
Eliminate any obstructions which will interfere with the placement
of the ear cushions on the ear (i.e. hair, eyeglasses).
Ensure that the headphones (Figure 17) are positioned
correctly: red phone on the right ear, blue phone on the left
ear. Adjust the headband of the headphones so that the
earphones are positioned at the correct height (i.e. the sound
output grid exactly facing the ear canal).
5.6.2 Selecting a Screener
NOTE: For learning how to add a screener see:
Press in the upper right corner of the start screen. Select a screener from the list
and press OK (Figure 18).
NOTE: You can add a new screener in Menu
→
Settings
→
Screeners.
Press to add a new screener. Enter the screener name and press Save.
