Overview

This document outlines the features, usage, and maintenance of an Integrated Video Conference Terminal, designed to facilitate seamless communication in various meeting environments.

The device serves as a comprehensive solution for video conferencing, integrating a high-quality camera, an 8-microphone array, and a tweeter-woofer combo speaker into a single unit. This all-in-one design simplifies the setup of meeting rooms, making it particularly suitable for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) setups. Its plug-and-play capability ensures compatibility with common Unified Communications (UC) applications such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams, allowing users to quickly connect and start meetings without complex configurations.

Function Description:

The core function of the Integrated Video Conference Terminal is to provide an integrated audio and video experience for conferencing. It acts as a central hub for capturing video, recording audio, and playing back sound during virtual meetings. The device's camera captures video, while the microphone array ensures clear audio input, and the integrated speaker delivers crisp sound output.

A key feature is its PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor, which enhances energy efficiency and user convenience. In power-on mode, if no moving object is detected within 3 meters for 30 minutes, the device automatically enters a standby state. Conversely, it automatically starts up when it detects moving objects within 3 meters, ensuring it's ready for use when someone enters the room.

The device supports digital zooming of the camera, allowing users to adjust the camera's field of view to focus on specific areas or participants. During digital zooming, the direction buttons on the remote control can be used to move the camera image, providing flexibility in framing.

For audio, the device includes a DOA (Direction of Arrival) indicator feature. This allows the videobar to point towards the direction of the voice source using a blue light, enhancing the sense of presence and making it easier to identify who is speaking. After indicating the direction, the light returns to white.

The terminal also supports firmware updates, which are crucial for improving performance and adding new functionalities. Users can download and install the MAXHUB Align software to manage these updates, as well as control and configure the audio and video attributes of the product.

Usage Features:

The Integrated Video Conference Terminal is designed for ease of use, offering multiple ways to connect and operate.

Hardware Connection:

  1. Power Supply: Connect the power jack of the power adapter to the product. The device will auto power up upon switching on the power outlet.
  2. Computer Connection: Use the included USB Type-C cable to connect the terminal to a computer's USB port. This establishes the primary connection for video and audio data transfer.
  3. Manual Power On/Off: Users can manually turn on the product by pressing the Power button located at the back of the unit. The power button also allows users to enter an energy-saving state with a short press, or power off the device by pressing and holding for 2 seconds.

Mounting Options:

The device offers flexibility in placement:

  1. Tabletop Placement: It can be placed directly on a tabletop using its integrated foot stand.
  2. Wall-Mounted: For a more permanent setup, the device can be wall-mounted. This involves fixing a bracket to the wall with screws and then attaching the terminal to the fixed bracket.

Remote Control:

A dedicated remote control provides convenient access to various functions:

  • Power Button: Controls the device's power state (energy-saving, power off).
  • Volume Button: Adjusts the system volume.
  • Digital Zooming: Allows for zooming in and out of the camera view.
  • Direction Buttons: Used for selection in menus and for moving the camera image during digital zoom.
  • OK Button: Confirms selections and restores the default camera view during digital zooming.
  • Microphone On/Off: Toggles the microphone's active state.
  • Number Keys: Used for digital input and for managing camera presets.

Camera Presets:

The device supports camera presets, allowing users to save and quickly switch between different camera views.

  • When Smart View mode is off, users can set and switch camera preset modes on the video conferencing page or within the camera field of view.
  • Pressing and holding a number key for 2 seconds saves the current camera settings to that preset position (up to 10 presets available).
  • A short press of a number key switches to the corresponding preset state.

Connecting to Video Applications:

To use the device with video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Meetup):

  1. Open the desired video application.
  2. Select "MAXHUB UC S07" as the main camera source.
  3. Select "MAXHUB UC S07" as the main speaker and microphone source.
  4. The remote control can then be used to adjust sounds or control the camera view.

LED Light Bar Status Indicator:

The device features an LED light bar that provides visual feedback on its operational status:

  • Product booting up: Blue light pulses from left to right.
  • Fully booted up and ready: Solid White.
  • Product in use (Mic and Camera both on): Solid Aqua Blue (Cyan).
  • Mic ON and Camera OFF: Solid White.
  • Mic OFF and Camera ON: Solid Red.
  • Mic and Camera both OFF: Solid Red.
  • Increase or decrease volume: White light increases/decreases in length from left to right, indicating a change in audio levels.
  • During Firmware Upgrade: White light pulses from left to right.
  • Voice direction indicator (during call): 12 LED dots indicate with 180° coverage. A blue dot lights up for 1 second to indicate the direction of the sound source.

Maintenance Features:

Maintaining the Integrated Video Conference Terminal involves adhering to safety guidelines and utilizing available support resources.

Safety Precautions:

  • Operating Environment: Avoid placing the product in dusty or humid environments to prevent internal short circuits. Keep it away from heating devices. The optimal operating temperature is 0-40℃, with humidity between 10%-90%RH.
  • Children Safety: The product and its accessories may contain small parts; keep them away from children to prevent accidental swallowing.
  • Power Supply: Always use the standard power adapter provided. Be mindful of power loading when using extension cords or multiple outlet power boards.
  • Keep Dry: The product is not waterproof; ensure it remains dry.
  • Physical Handling: Do not insert sharp or pointed objects into the device. Prevent falls and collisions with other objects to avoid damage.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a table of common faults and their solutions:

  • Video/Audio not shown in meeting platform: Ensure the videobar is selected as the default output source for camera, microphone, and speaker in the meeting platform.
  • Videobar not turned off after meeting: This is normal due to the PIR sensor detecting people and automatically turning on.
  • LED light flash during meeting: This indicates the DOA indicator feature pointing to the voice source with blue light, which will return to white after indicating the direction.
  • Flipped image: If the image is flipped due to reverse mounting, use the MAXHUB Align software to set the flip vertically and horizontally.

Firmware Updates:

Regular firmware updates are a key maintenance feature, improving performance and adding new functionalities. Users are encouraged to download and install the MAXHUB Align software to perform these updates. This software also allows for control and configuration of the product's audio and video attributes. The latest firmware updates and user manuals are available on the MAXHUB website.

Technical Support:

For maintenance services or any issues not covered in the troubleshooting guide, users are advised to contact technical support.

By following these guidelines and utilizing the device's integrated features, users can ensure a reliable and effective video conferencing experience.
