Why does the platform of my McGuire Lifting Systems rise slowly?
    • V
      Virginia ScottAug 1, 2025
If the platform of your McGuire Lifting System rises slowly or doesn't reach its full height, start by removing any heavy objects, as the dock leveler is designed to lift only its own weight. Then, check for any obstructions that might be causing the dock leveler to bind, including the weather seal if equipped. Also, inspect the hold-down mechanism, cleaning it if necessary. Finally, the main spring tension might be insufficient, so you may need to increase it.

How to troubleshoot a McGuire MP platform that doesn't rise?
    • X
      xcarpenterAug 5, 2025
If the platform of your McGuire Lifting System doesn't rise, first make sure there are no heavy objects on it, as it's designed to lift only its own weight. Then, check the release chain to ensure it's connected; if it's broken, replace it. Finally, inspect the dock leveler for any obstructions that might be causing it to bind, including the weather seal if equipped. If you find no obstructions, further assistance may be needed.

If the platform of your McGuire Lifting System rises fully but the lip doesn't fully extend, start by checking the lip assist chain; connect it if it's disconnected, or replace it if broken. Also, the main spring tension might be insufficient, requiring an increase. Finally, you might need to increase the lip assist spring compression.

    • C
      Charles AndrewsAug 14, 2025
If the platform of your McGuire Lifting System doesn't stay down, check for an entangled release chain and remove the cause. Inspect and clean the ratchet bar and ratchet pawl teeth, but do NOT lubricate them. Replace any broken or damaged ratchet assembly teeth, also without lubrication. Replace any disconnected or broken hold-down pivot pins. Clean and inspect the hold-down mechanism.

    • Y
      yhuffmanAug 18, 2025
If the lip of your McGuire Lifting System folds too fast during normal walk-down, you may need to increase the lip assist spring compression. Also, inspect the shock absorber and connect or replace the gas strut if it's disconnected, worn, or broken.

      markbrownAug 27, 2025
