D. Safety thermostat defective or not positioned correctly
1. Disconnect the heater from the electrical power supply.
2. Remove the upper mantle
3. Verify that its position is correct
1. Follow the instructions related to the “Incorrect pump pressure” section.
F. Dirty fuel filter
1. Follow the instructions related to the “Dirty fuel filter” section.
G. Dirty photocell
1. Follow the instructions related to the “Dirty photocell” section
Observed problem: If the heater ignites, but lots of smoke is coming out
Possible causes
A. High altitude
B. Incorrect pump pressure
C. Incorrect fuel
D. Tightening of the input air flow
E. Incorrect adjustment of the air damper
Repair procedure
A. High altitude
All heaters are designed and tested to function optimally below 1000 m above sea level. Working with a
heater like this one above this altitude, may result in a mixture of air and fuel that is no longer balanced
because the air, at these altitudes, is less dense. This unbalance in the air-fuel mixture causes carbon
deposits to form in the combustion chamber.
If the heater is used above 1000 m, decrease pump pressure of 2 bars compared to the values in the table
and observe its behaviour. If necessary, decrease even more
B. Incorrect pump pressure
1. Operate as described in the “Incorrect pump pressure” section
C. Incorrect fuel
1. Consult section 3 related to fuel choice and its characteristics
D. Tightening of the input air flow
1. Check if, for any reasons, there are any obstacles that block the regular input air flow of the
combustion chamber. This causes an unbalanced mixture of air and fuel that results in black smoke
and carbon deposits inside the combustion chamber. Also check that the heater is positioned with
the rear portion too close to a wall, which would be an obstacle to input air flow. Keep the heater at
least 2 metres from the wall
E. Incorrect adjustment of the air damper
1. Remove the upper movable mantle
2. Using a tape measure, verify if the opening of the damper corresponds to what is indicated in the
table. If that is not the case, restore the original opening and repeat the ignition procedure
E. Incorrect pump pressure
