1 — General Operating and Safety Information
NOTE: Different regions use the terms “earth” and “ground” to describe the protective unipotential
bonding connection. Both appear in text within this chapter, whereas “ground” is used throughout the
guide.
Symbols and Labels used on Equipment

Symbol/label Description
Protective conductor terminal. Connects to Megger Baker PPX power pack
ground terminal when used with a PPX. It can also be used to ground the
instrument to earth when connected to a ungrounded power supply like a
portable generator or marine distribution system.
Located on rear panel of instrument by the ground terminal.
Warning about hazardous voltage and risk of injury or death from severe
electrical shock.
Located above the test leads on the back panel of the instrument and on the
front with the Test Lead indicator lights..
A general caution to refer to the User Guide for additional information.
Located above the test leads on the back panel of the instrument.
Warning about injury risk from potential pinching hazard.
Located on each side of the unit just above the kickstand location.
The High Voltage Danger noticed warns users about the inherent dangers
of using a high-voltage testing device, and provides a reference to the User
Guide for complete safety precautions.
Located prominently on the top of the ADX.
