Electric power consumption is high, such

formance is low

Check engine warning lamp is illuminated
or the
indicator display is blinking.

The selector lever is other than in the “D”
(DRIVE) position (CVT)

ASC operation indicator and ASC OFF

NOTE

In the following cases, the engine will not
stop automatically even if the indica-
tor display turned on.
•
Depress the accelerator pedal
•
Brake booster vacuum pressure is low
•
Operate the steering wheel
•
Brake pedal is not sufficiently depressed
(CVT)
•
Parking on steep hill (CVT)
•
Parking brake operates (CVT)

On vehicles equipped with M/T, do not rest
your foot on the clutch pedal while driving
because this will cause detection of clutch
pedal switch malfunction and blinking of
AS&G OFF display, and AS&G system will
not operate.
l
If the AS&G system operates while the air
conditioner is operating, both the engine and
the air conditioning compressor will stop.
Therefore, only the blower will operate, the
windows may start to fog up. If this occurs,
press the demister switch to restart the en-
gine.

If the windows become fogged up each time
the engine is stopped, we recommend you to
deactivate the AS&G system by pressing the
“Auto Stop & Go (AS&G) OFF” switch.
Refer to “To deactivate” on page 6-28.
NOTE

If the air conditioner is operating, set the
temperature control higher to lengthen the
time that the engine is stopped automatical-
ly.
Automatically restarting the en-
gine (on vehicles equipped with
M/T)
Depress the clutch pedal while the gearshift
lever is in the “N” (Neutral) position. The
indicator display turns off and the en-
gine restarts automatically.
Automatically stopping the en-
gine (on vehicles equipped with
CVT)
Release the brake pedal. The indicator
display turns off and the engine restarts auto-
matically.
When the Brake auto hold operation indi-
cator is turned on (for vehicles equipped
with Brake auto hold)
When you depress the accelerator pedal, the
engine restarts automatically.
When the Adaptive Cruise Control System
(ACC) is turned on (for vehicles equipped
with the ACC)
