TIMING GEARS, CAMSHAFT AND OIL
PAN ENGINE MAIN PARTS
3. Installing oil pump
1) Install the oil pump in position in the
crankcase. Make sure the oil pump gear is
meshing with the oil pump drive gear of the
camshaft.
2) Install the oil pump set bolt with gasket and
tighten it to the specified torque.
4. Installing oil pan
1) Apply THREE BOND 1207C or 1211, or
equivalent, to the seats formed of the
crankcase for the No.1 and No.5 main bearing
caps just enough to be forced out of the seats
when the oil pan gasket is installed.
2) Install the oil pan gasket to the bottom of the
crankcase by fitting it into the grooves in the
main bearing caps and into the seats to which
THREE BOND was applied in Step (a), as
shown in the illustration.
3) Tighten the oil pan bolts to the specified
torque.
5. Turn the crankcase upside down for the steps that
follow.

CAUTION
To prevent damage to the oil pan, do not place the
engine on the floor with the oil pan facing down.
