3.5 Measuring idler gear and camshaft gear
end play
Using a feeler gauge or dial gauge, measure the end play of
idler gear and camshaft gear.
If the measured value exceeds the limit, replace the thrust
plate with a new one.

3.6 Removing fuel injection pump
(1)
Remove the pump bracket mounting bolts.
(2) Unscrew the mounting bolts of fuel injection pump, and
remove the fuel injection pump.

3.7 Removing oil pan
CAUTION
Do not insert a chisel or screwdriver between the oil
pan and crankcase to remove the oil pan, as it could
deform the oil pan flange.
(1) Turn the engine upside down.
(2) Remove bolts from the oil pan.
(3) To remove oil pan, tap flange corners of the oil pan
with a plastic hammer.

3.8 Removing oil strainer
(1)
Remove the oil strainer mounting bolts.
(2) Remove the oil strainer from the crankcase.
