2.2 Installing the Regulator Cover
WARNING!
Visually inspect the U-clip to ensure that it is in place and has not become dislodged or fallen out of the
regulator housing before attaching the regulator cover. Ensure proper engagement of both retaining tabs by
visual inspection to ensure that the regulator cover is securely attached to the regulator housing. Failure to
follow this warning could cause the regulator to malfunction resulting in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: Procedure applies to the purge and non-purge regulator cover.
(1) Push the regulator shut off buttons to ensure the valve
fork is set in the raised position.
NOTE: Ensure the diaphragm is seated securely over the
regulator housing. (See Installing the Diaphragm for instruc-
tions.)
(2) Apply a thin coating of Christo-Lube lubricant to the edge
rim of the diaphragm.
(3) Place the CBRN shield over the diaphragm assembly.
(4) Tap lightly on the top of CBRN shield to remove trapped
air.
(5) Replace spring cap.
(6) Place the end of the spring over the protrusion of the
CBRN shield.
(7) Press and hold the release buttons and ensure the
regulator cover is positioned over the buttons.
NOTE: The U-clip is designed to be held securely in place in
the regulator housing by the regulator cover once the regulator
cover is attached.
