wire(s) and ground against the
engine to prevent unintended
starting before removing the cut-
ting Made(s) for sharpening or
replacement. Protect your hands
by using heavy gloves or a rag to
grasp the cutting Made.
WARNING: Periodically inspect
the Made spindles for cracks or
damage, especially if you strike a
foreign object. Replace immedi-
ately if damaged.
Thebladesmayberemovedas follows,
1, Removethe deckfrombeneaththetractor,(referto
CuttingDeckRemovalon page23) thengentlyflip
thedeckoverto exposeitsunderside,
2, Placea blockofwood betweenthecenterdeckhous-
ingbaffleandthecuttingbladetoact asa stabilizer,

3, Usea 15/16"wrenchto removethe hexflangenut
thatsecuresthebladeto thespindleassembly,See
Figure24,
4, Toproperlysharpenthe cutting blades,removeequal
amountsof metalfrombothendsof thebladesalong
thecuttingedges,parallelto thetrailingedge,ata
25°to 30°angle,
IMPORTANT:If thecuttingedgeofthe bladehasalready
beensharpenedtowithin15/8" fromtheedge,or ifany
metalseparationis present,replacethe bladeswith new
ones,SeeFigure25,
It isimportantthateachcuttingbladeedgebeground
equallyto maintainproperbladebalance,
A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessive
vibrationand maycausedamageto thetractorand
resultinpersonaliniury,Thebladecan betestedby
balancingit ona roundshaftscrewdriver,Grindmetal
fromtheheavysideuntilit balancesevenly,
