6.1 Troubleshooting
Engine does not turn when starter is actuated
Cause Corrective action
Battery low or faulty u Charge or replace (see separate documentation).
Battery: Cable connections faulty u Check firm seating of cable connections (see separate
documentation).
Engine cabling or starter faulty u Check firm seating of cable connections, contact Service.
Engine cabling faulty u Check (→ Page 254).
Loose plug connections on Engine
Control Unit
u Check plug connections (→ Page 257).
Loose plug connections on Engine
Interface Module (EIM)
u Check plug connections (→ Page 259).
Fuse F1 (→ Page 52)in engine
wiring harness faulty (fuse lamp
on EIM flashes with relevant
flashing code)
u Check fuse (replace as necessary) and re-start the system by
actuating the key switch.
Engine blocked (engine cannot be
barred manually)
u Contact Service.
Engine turns on starting but does not fire
Cause Corrective action
Poor rotation by starter: Battery
low or faulty
u Charge or replace battery (see separate documentation).
Engine cabling faulty u Check (→ Page 254).
Engine Control Unit faulty u Contact Service.
Engine fires unevenly
