What causes my Napoleon LEX 485 infrared burner to flash back?
- KKimberly RodriguezSep 9, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill's infrared burner flashes back, it could be due to ceramic tiles overloaded with grease drippings and build-up, clogged ports, overheating due to inadequate ventilation (too much grill surface covered), cracked ceramic tiles, a leaking gasket around the ceramic tile, or a weld failure in the burner housing. Turn the burner off and let it cool for at least two minutes. Relight the burner and burn on high for at least five minutes or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Make sure no more than 75% of the grill surface is covered. Allow the burner to cool and inspect closely for cracks. If cracks are found, contact your Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly.
