Why is there low heat on my Napoleon LD485 when the valve is on high?
    • A
      Amanda PittmanAug 16, 2025
Low heat or flame on your Napoleon Grill when the valve is on high could be due to a few reasons. If you're using propane, ensure you're following the lighting procedure carefully: all gas grill valves must be off when you turn on the tank valve. Turn the tank on slowly to allow the pressure to equalize. If you are using natural gas, the supply line may be undersized and must be sized according to installation code. For both propane and natural gas, make sure to preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

What to do if my Napoleon Grill has excessive flare-ups or uneven heat?
    • L
      Laura JohnsonAug 19, 2025
Excessive flare-ups or uneven heat in your Napoleon Grill may be due to incorrectly installed sear plates. Ensure they are installed with the holes towards the front and the slots on the bottom. Also, preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Regularly clean the sear plates and drip pan, and do not line the pan with aluminum foil.

How to fix yellow flame and gas smell on Napoleon LD485 burners?
    • A
      Amy RobinsonAug 22, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill burners are burning with a yellow flame and there's a smell of gas, it could be due to a spider web, other debris, or an improperly adjusted air shutter. Thoroughly clean the burner by removing it. Also, the air shutter can be opened slightly according to combustion air adjustment instructions, but this must be done by a qualified gas installer.

Why does my Napoleon Grill have excessive flare-ups and uneven heat?
    • J
      Joseph CardenasAug 26, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat in your Napoleon Grill can be caused by sear plates installed incorrectly, improper preheating, or excessive grease and ash build-up on the sear plates and in the drip pan. Ensure sear plates are installed with the holes towards the front and the slots on the bottom. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Clean sear plates and the drip pan regularly. Do not line the pan with aluminum foil.

What to do if my Napoleon LD485 Grill infrared burner flashes back?
    • A
      Allison BlakeAug 28, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill's infrared burner flashes back, turn the burner off and allow it to cool for at least two minutes. Relight the burner and burn on high for at least five minutes or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Ensure that no more than 75% of the grill surface is covered by objects or accessories. Allow the burner to cool and inspect it very closely for cracks. If any cracks are found, contact your authorized Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly.

      Michael GibbsAug 31, 2025
Low heat or low flame on your Napoleon Grill when the valve is turned to high can be due to several reasons. If you are using propane, it might be due to an improper lighting procedure. If you are using natural gas, it could be an undersized supply line. For both propane and natural gas, it can be caused by improper preheating. Ensure the lighting procedure is followed carefully. All gas grill valves must be in the off position when the tank valve is turned on. Turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • A
      Alicia JacksonSep 3, 2025
If the burners on your Napoleon Grill will not cross light each other, it is likely due to plugged ports at the back of the burner. Clean the burner ports.

    • B
      Betty JohnsonSep 6, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill burners burn with a yellow flame and there is a smell of gas, it is possibly due to a spider web or other debris, or improper air shutter adjustment. Thoroughly clean the burner by removing it. Opening the air shutter slightly should be done by a qualified gas installer.

Why is 'paint' peeling inside the lid of my Napoleon LD485?
    • D
      devin13Sep 9, 2025
The peeling inside the lid or hood of your Napoleon Grill is not a defect. The finish on the lid and hood is porcelain and will not peel. The peeling is caused by hardened grease, which dries into paint-like shards that flake off. Regular cleaning will prevent this.

    Jennifer RossSep 12, 2025
What causes flames to lift away from burner on my Napoleon LD485?
    • D
      Douglas DavisSep 12, 2025
Flames lifting away from the burner, accompanied by the smell of gas, and possibly difficulties in lighting on your Napoleon Grill, are caused by improper air shutter adjustment. Closing the air shutter slightly should be done according to combustion air adjustment instructions, and this must be done by a qualified gas installer.
