If you're using propane, ensure you're following the lighting procedure carefully: all gas grill valves must be off when you turn on the tank valve. For both propane and natural gas, make sure to preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

  The peeling inside the lid or hood of your Napoleon Grill is not a defect. The finish on the lid and hood is porcelain and will not peel. The peeling is caused by hardened grease, which dries into paint-like shards that flake off. Regular cleaning will prevent this.
