Why does my Napoleon LD485RSIB Grill have excessive flare-ups and uneven heat?
    • E
      Emily HancockJul 26, 2025
Excessive flare-ups and uneven heat in your Napoleon Grill can occur due to several reasons. Ensure sear plates are installed correctly with the holes facing the front and the slots at the bottom, following the assembly instructions. Improper preheating can also be a cause; preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes. Lastly, excessive grease and ash buildup on the sear plates and in the drip pan can contribute to this issue. Clean the sear plates and drip pan regularly, and avoid lining the pan with aluminum foil. Refer to the cleaning instructions for proper maintenance.

How to fix low heat or low flame on my Napoleon LD485RSIB Grill when the valve is on high?
    • B
      Brandon BarryJul 30, 2025
If your Napoleon Grill has low heat or a low flame when the valve is turned to high, the cause could be one of several things. For propane grills, ensure you are following the correct lighting procedure, with all gas grill valves in the off position when the tank valve is turned on, and turn the tank on slowly to allow pressure to equalize. For natural gas grills, the supply line might be undersized, so the pipe must be sized according to the installation code. For both propane and natural gas grills, improper preheating could be the issue. Preheat the grill with both main burners on high for 10 to 15 minutes.

Why does the 'paint' appear to be peeling inside the lid of my Napoleon Grill?
    • T
      Tiffany BradyAug 3, 2025
The 'peeling paint' inside the lid or hood of your Napoleon Grill is not a defect. The finish on the lid and hood is porcelain and will not peel. The peeling is caused by hardened grease, which dries into paint-like shards that flake off. Regular cleaning will prevent this. See the cleaning instructions for guidance.

What to do if the infrared burner on my Napoleon LD485RSIB Grill flashes back?
    • H
      Harold TuckerAug 8, 2025
If the infrared burner on your Napoleon Grill flashes back, turn the burner off and allow it to cool for at least two minutes. Relight the burner and let it burn on high for at least five minutes, or until the ceramic tiles are evenly glowing red. Ensure that objects or accessories cover no more than 75% of the grill surface. If the issue persists, turn the burner off, let it cool for two minutes, and then relight it. After cooling, inspect the burner closely for cracks. If you find any cracks, contact your authorized Napoleon dealer to order a replacement burner assembly. Also, the ceramic tiles may be overloaded with grease drippings and buildup, or the ports may be clogged. Another possible cause is that the burner overheated due to inadequate ventilation.

Why are the burners on my Napoleon Grill burning with a yellow flame and a gas smell?
    • W
      Wendy PrattAug 12, 2025
If the burners on your Napoleon Grill are burning with a yellow flame and there's a smell of gas, it could be due to a spider web or other debris, or improper air shutter adjustment. Thoroughly clean the burner by removing it, following the general maintenance instructions. Slightly open the air shutter according to the combustion air adjustment instructions. This adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.
  • S

Why are the flames lifting away from the burner on my Napoleon LD485RSIB Grill?
    • J
      Jason FloydAug 16, 2025
If the flames are lifting away from the burner on your Napoleon Grill, accompanied by the smell of gas, and possibly difficulties in lighting, it is likely due to improper air shutter adjustment. Close the air shutter slightly according to the combustion air adjustment instructions. This adjustment must be done by a qualified gas installer.

Why won't the burners on my Napoleon LD485RSIB Grill cross light each other?
    • E
      Elijah PorterAug 20, 2025
