  If the pilot on your Napoleon Grill will not light, ensure that the propane cylinder is full and that there are no obstructions in the pilot orifice. Also, check that the electrode wire is correctly connected and that the pilot electrode is clean. After turning the pilot knob to high, wait approximately 20-30 seconds for air to purge the gas supply line while pressing igniter. During initial set-up or after the tank has been refilled, it is best to light one of the tube burners before lighting the pilot burner, as this enables the gas to reach the valves on the manifold more quickly. Note that the pilot flame, especially on natural gas units, can be difficult to see, so place your hand 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the grill surface over the pilot burner to feel for heat.

Also, check for and clean any obstruction in the pilot orifice, replace the lead wire if needed, and clean the pilot electrode.

  If the rear and side burners on your Napoleon Grill will not light with the igniter but will light with a match, replace the battery with a heavy-duty premium battery or make sure it is installed correctly. Check that the electrode wire is firmly pushed onto the terminal on the back of the igniter. Also, check that the lead wires from the module to the ignition switch (if equipped) are firmly pushed onto their respective terminals.

  If the burner output on the “high” setting of your Napoleon Grill is too low, producing a rumbling noise and fluttering blue flame at the burner surface, check the gas level in the propane cylinder. Reposition the supply hose if it is pinched. Clean the burner orifice and clear out the venturi tube if they are dirty or clogged, or if there are spider webs or other matter in the venturi tube.
