WARRANTY
WHATISCOVEREDBYWARRANTY
Whereawarrantableconditionexists,Navistar,Inc.willrepair
yourdieselengineatnocosttoyou,includingdiagnosis,parts,
andlabor.IfyourvehicleortruckfailsaSmogCheckinspection,
allnecessaryrepairsandadjustmentswillbemadebyNavistar
toensurethatyouremissioncontrolsystemPerformance
Warranty.
Ifanyemission-relatedpartonyourdieselengineisdefective,
thepartwillberepairedorreplacedbyNavistar.Thisisyour
short-termemissioncontrolsystemDefectsWarranty.For
diesel-poweredheavy-dutyvehicles(exceptmedium-duty
vehicles),andmotorvehicleenginesusedinsuchvehicles,a
periodofuseofveyears,100,000miles,or3,000hoursof
operation,whicheverrstoccurs.However,innocasemay
thisperiodbelessthanthebasicmechanicalwarrantythatthe
manufacturerprovides(withorwithoutadditionalcharge)tothe
purchaseroftheengine.Extendedwarrantiesonselectpartsdo
notextendtheemissionswarrantyrequirementsfortheentire
enginebutonlyforthoseparts.Incaseswhereresponsibility
foranextendedwarrantyissharedbetweentheownerandthe
manufacturer,theemissionwarrantyshallalsobesharedinthe
samemannerasspeciedinthewarrantyagreement.
Newvehiclesandengines,registeredandcertiedforsalein
California,havethefollowingitemscoveredbytheemission
warrantywhenrstinstalledontheengineasoriginalequipment
byNavistar,Inc:
•Fuelinjectionsystem
•Airinductionsystem(includesturbocharger,exhaust
manifold,ExhaustGasRecirculation[EGR]system,EGR
rateandfeedbackcontrolsystem,andintakemanifold)
•Positivecrankcaseventilationsystem(includes
CrankcaseVentilationValve[CCV]andoilllcap)
•DieselParticulateControlSystem(includescatalytic
converter,traps,fueladditivedevices,andotherdevices
usedtoregenerateoraidintheregenerationofthe
particulatecontroldevice)
•Miscellaneousitemsusedinabovesystems

C.Vacuum,temperature,andtimesensitivevalves
andswitches
