ACCEPTABLEFUELBLENDS
•Ultralowsulfurkerosene(No.1-DS15dieselfuel)
blendedwithNo.2-DS15fueltoimprovecoldweather
performance.Blendratewoulddependuponregional
lowtemperatures.
•LowerbiodieselblendsuptoB5(ablendof5%neat
biodieselwith95%dieselfuel).
Suchblendshavecharacteristicsindistinguishablefrom
dieselfuel,ifthetwocomponentsmeettherequirements
oftheirrespectivestandards:ASTMD6751current
revision,forneatbiodieselandASTMD975current
revision,forultralowsulfurdieselfuel.
AsofOctober1,2008blendsofupto5%biodieselare
includedinthedieselfuelstandardASTMD975-08a.
(D975-08adesignatesthe2008revisionofthestandard.)
Navistar,Inc.approvesofblendsuptoB5,providedthatthe
twocomponentssatisfycurrentspecications.Qualitybiodiesel
blendsuptoB5shouldnotcauseengineorfuelsystem
problems.
USEOFHIGHERBIODIESELFUELBLENDS(B6TOB20)
StandardASTMD7467-08coversthespecicationsforblends
between6%and20%(B6toB20).Theseblendsmaybeused
invehiclesthatoperateinpopulatedareasorineetswhichare
requiredtousealternativefuelstoreduceurbanpollution.
UseofB6toB20blendsisatthediscretionofthe
customer/operatorandwillnotautomaticallyvoidanengine
warranty.However,ifenginecomponentfailurecanbedirectly
attributabletouseofaB6toB20blendnotprovidedby
aBQ9000certiedfuelsupplierornotmeetingtheASTM
D7467-08Standard,Navistarmay,atitsoption,denywarranty
ontheaffectedengineorenginecomponent.
NavistarrecommendsusersofB20selectaBQ9000certied
fuelsupplierandrequestprooffromthesupplierthefuelmeets
ASTMD7467-08Standard.Fuelsnotmeetingthespecication
maycausefuelsystemdeposits,pluggedlters,contaminated
engineoil,andfueldegradation.
