InCabPowerTake-off(PTO)Control
Theincabenginespeedcontrolfeature,commonlyreferredto
asPowerT ake-off(PTO),allowstheoperatortosetandmaintain
aconstantenginespeedwithoutusingtheacceleratorpedal.It
iscommonlyusedforpoweringauxiliarydevices.
CustomerprogrammableparameterswithintheEngineControl
Module(ECM)providein-cabenginespeedcontrolrelated
optionsthatcanbeadjustedtosuitthecustomer'sneeds.
Choosingwhethertheoperatorisallowedtoincreaseengine
speedusingtheacceleratorpedalwithoutdisengagingthePTO
isanexample.
RemoteEngineSpeedControl(RESC)
RESC,commonlyreferredtoasremotePTO,allowstheoperator
tosetandmaintainenginespeedwithoutusingtheaccelerator
pedal.Itiscommonlyusedforpoweringauxiliarydevices.
Whencontroloverenginespeedisrequiredfromoutsidethe
vehicle'scab,remotemountedswitchesmustbeusedtoturnon
PTOenginespeedcontrolandselectthedesiredenginespeed.
EnginespeedcanberampedupanddownwithRESCsimilar
tothewaythein-cabPTOfeatureworks.However,theRESC
featureincludestwoadditionalswitches(remotepresetand
remotevariable)whichallowtheoperatortochoosethemode
ofenginespeedcontroloperation.
CustomerprogrammableparameterswithintheECMprovide
RESCoptionsthatcanbeadjustedtosuitthecustomer's
needs.Choosingwhetheraremotethrottlepedalisusedfor
PTOoperationisanexample.
