2.4.2 AM121-2 internal block diagram
Input mode detection and auto calibration
AM121-2 can handle up to 14 different modes, it can automatically detect the mode and scaling.
Buffer memory and read/write control
The AM121-2 uses internal buffer memory to store a portion of the input image for image scaling and
output synchronization.
Image scaling, interpolation and dithering
The AM121-2 supports both automatic image scaling and interpolation. It supports 16.7million true color
for a 6-bit panel. Two dithering algorithms are implemented and users can chose between them through
the external micro-controller.
OSM mixer and LCD interface
At the output stage, the AM121-2 performs the OSM mixer function, and then generates the 24-bit/48-bit
RGB signal to the LCD panel with the correct timing.
EEPROM interface
As mentioned in previous sections, the external EEPROM (IC07—24LC08) stores crucial information for
the AM121-2 internal operations. The AM121-2 interfaces with the EEPROM through a 2-wire serial
interface.
CPU interface
The Am121-2 supports a 2-wire serial interface to an external CPU. The interface allows the external CPU
to access and modify control register inside the AM121-2.
