a. If the Mice and other pointing devices category looks similar to Figure 2
(i.e. more than one pointing device), identify, select and remove (by the
Delete key) the fake pointing device (usually Microsoft Serial Mouse, but
may vary).
b. If the category contains a single item (the “real” mouse driver), no action
is needed, and if there still is a problem, it has another source.
Notes:
Extra care should be taken while working with Device Manager. Make sure you
correctly identify the “real” mouse driver in use by the system (by identifying the brand,
model or type of connection). Removing the wrong device may cause Windows to work
improperly.
