Usage Features
Installation and Setup:
- Installation Site: The Industrial PC is designed for harsh environments. It should not be exposed to direct sun or heat sources. A minimum of 0.6 inch (15 mm) space is required for air circulation. The device will automatically shut off if the temperature is outside the operating range.
- Mounting:
- C12 and C15 Compact Enclosures: Attached via the rear panel cooling element using two guide bars with T-slots for groove stones (DIN 508/ M5x6) and screws (M5x10) with washers. Factory-installed stoppers prevent sliding and aid alignment.
- Stainless Steel S12 and S15: Mounted to a surface following provided drilling patterns.
- Panel Mount P12 and P15: Requires a specific cut-out for installation, with dimensions provided in the manual.
- Power Supply: External power units are available in standard table versions or NEMA4 (IP65) protected versions for wall mounting. The power unit must be mounted securely and allow for disconnection from the outlet. Only the provided power supply or an optional connection cord with an integrated fuse should be used.
- External Devices: Connect or disconnect external devices (except Hot Plug devices to USB and Firewire) only when the Industrial PC is shut off, waiting at least five seconds. Connecting cables should not be too short or stretched.
Operation:
- Operating and Indicator Devices: Located on the front panel (for C12, S12, P12 models; S15 and P15 models do not have these).
- LEDs: POWER, INPUT, HDD, OK, ERROR.
- Keys: BRIGHTNESS (+/-), CONTRAST (+/-), ON-OFF (I/O).
- Key Functions (Standard Settings):
- POWER LED: Lights up when PC is on.
- INPUT LED: Lights up on valid entry, flashes when a key is pressed.
- HDD LED: Lights up when hard drive is accessed.
- OK LED: Lights up after successful internal function test.
- ERROR LED: Lights up on problem/error.
- ON (I) key: Press for at least one second to turn on PC or CFL backlight. Press for more than 5 seconds for hard reset.
- OFF (O) key: Press for at least 5 seconds to turn off PC or CFL backlight.
- BRIGHTNESS (+/-) keys: Briefly tap to change brightness level, hold to continuously change brightness.
- CFL Backlight: Dims to reduced brightness 3 minutes after last key press or touch. Can be reactivated by pressing any key on an external PS2 keyboard, the ON key, touching the surface, or moving a PS/2 mouse.
- Connector Area: Includes ports for Power, Monitor, LAN, LPT 1/Floppy, Barcode, Mouse/Keyboard, USB, IEEE 1394, COM 1, COM 2, and an opening for an ISA / PCI combi slot.
- Serial Interface Options: RS232P5 (5V output), RS232P12 (12V output), RS422DP (dual power 5V/12V), RS485DP (dual power 5V/12V), TTY20mA (current loop).
- Safety: Plug/unplug devices only when power is off, except for USB and IEEE 1394 (Firewire).
Maintenance Features
Servicing and Cleaning:
- Safety: Turn off the device and disconnect from power supply before servicing.
- Cleaning: Use typical commercial plastic cleaners and a soft, lint-free cloth. Apply cleaner to the cloth, not directly to the PC. Clean when damp (not wet, except for IP65 devices). Do not press cleaning agent under touch seals. Clean surface and display window without applying pressure. Remove cleaning agent completely.
- Display Protection: Optional protective film is available to prevent mechanical wear. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the display window to avoid scratches.
- Upgrades and Maintenance: Only authorized professionals with fundamental PC knowledge should open the device. Improper work voids the warranty. Allow components to cool before touching them.
- Batteries: Use only recommended battery types. Dispose of batteries according to manufacturer's directions. Ensure CMOS battery is inserted with "+" side upwards to avoid explosion.
Troubleshooting:
- Automatic Shutdown: The device will shut off automatically if input voltage is too high/low, internal voltage is too high/low, system temperature is too high/low, or fan speed is too high/low.
- N6 Error Codes: If an error occurs, the integrated MCU displays an error code on the display section LEDs (OK, INPUT, POWER LEDs display the code instead of their normal functions). Users should note the code and contact hotline.
- Repair Handling:
- Use the service cover letter from the noax website, fill it out completely, and enclose it with the device.
- Back up all data before sending for repair; noax is not liable for data loss.
- If the system is password protected, either delete the password or provide it.
- Securely package the Industrial PC (preferably in the original noax carton) to prevent damage during transportation.
- Recommend sending by UPS Standard. For warranty cases, noax covers UPS Standard charges but not additional express services.
