3. Input methods
You can key in English in two
different ways, using the traditional
method, or another method called
predictive English input.

Setting predictive
English input on or off
• To activate predictive English
input:
1. Press Options, as when
writing messages (see page
16), and select Dictionary;
2. Choose English.
• To deactivate predictive English
input:
1. Press Options, as when
writing messages (see page
16), and select Dictionary;
2. Choose Dictionary off.

Predictive English input
Predictive English input is an easy
way to input, for example, text
messages (see page 16) and
reminder notes (see page 31).
This input method uses a dictionary
built into the phone. To use this
input method, check that is
shown at the top of the display.
1. Key in the desired word by
pressing each key once for one
letter.
For example, to input ‘Nokia’,
press
.
Since the word changes after
each key press, do not pay much
attention to what happens on the
display before you have keyed in
the whole word.
• To delete the character to the
left of the cursor, press Clear.
To clear the screen, press and
hold this key.
• To switch between letter
cases, or between traditional
and predictive English input,
press repeatedly and
check the indicator at the top
of the display. Press and hold
to change between
letter cases and number.
• You can get some punctuation
marks by pressing , then
pressing repeatedly
until the desired punctuation
mark is shown.
