Configuring Notifications
By default, your NOOK posts notifications about software updates and NOOK Friends activities in a notifications
window, which you can open by tapping a notifications icon in the Status Bar. As of Release 2.2, Status Bar notifica-
tions also include NOOK notifications, on-screen alerts about great deals on books, magazines, and more.
Notifications are visible only to the Primary Profile on your NOOK. If you are logged in to a dierent account, such
as another Adult Profile or a Child Profile, you will not see notifications in the Status Bar.
To control the posting of notifications in the Status Bar, do this:
1. Open the General settings screen by tapping the General menu choice on the All Settings screen.
2. Find the NOTIFICATIONS section of the General setting screen in the scrollable panel on the right.
The NOTIFICATIONS section features two toggle switches: All Notifications and NOOK Notifications. By default,
both these toggle switches are turned on, configuring your NOOK to receive both status notifications and
NOOK notifications.
3. Use the toggle switches to turn notifications on or o.
• Tap All Notifications to control whether or not you receive any notifications at all, including notifications
about software updates.
Turning All Notifications o automatically turns NOOK Notifications o, too.
• If the All Notifications toggle is turned on, you have a choice of turning the NOOK Notifications toggle
switch on or o. Tap the NOOK Notifications switch if you want to change its setting.
• When you change a notifications setting, the change takes eect immediately.
NOTE: Turning All Notifications o does not prevent your NOOK from automatically receiving and installing
software updates. It simply stops your NOOK from posting notifications about the updates.
NOTE: These notification controls are device-specific. They do not aect the display of notifications on any
other NOOKs you have.
