Installing the Vectrino PC Software
To install the Vectrino software on a PC running Microsoft
®
Windows
®
:

Insert the CD.
2 Follow the on-screen instructions. Accept the default settings.
3 Restart your PC if prompted to, to fi nalize the installation process.
Verifying Proper Operation
Run a Functionality Check
To run a functionality check:

Connect the Vectrino to the PC serial port and to the power supply.
2 Select Serial Port from the Communication menu to spec ify the port number
to use.
3 Accept the default baud rate settings (9600 baud), which is also the default
instrument baud rate.
4 Check the instrument communication and verify that the instrument is alive
by activating the Communication > Terminal Emulator window and press
the Send Break button to send a BREAK signal over the serial port. A break
causes the instrument to report an identifi cation string.
Note! If the instrument fails to respond, the software can autoconnect to
the instrument. Press Stop Data Collection and wait until the instrument is
found. The correct serial port must be chosen.
5 Fill a bucket with water and a little dirt (sound scattering material).
6 Start the Vectrino software. Click Data collection > Start data collec tion.
When the transducers are in air, the velocity measure ments will look like
random noise.
