distance for a moment before looking
back into microscope.
Image shifts when you touch stage. Stage is not properly mounted. Clamp stage.
Specimen stops midway on the X-axis
traverse.
Specimen is not correctly positioned. Place specimen correctly.

X-axis and/or Y-axis knobs are too tight
or too loose.
X-axis and/or Y-axis adjustment knobs
are set at a position where tension is
too high or too low.
Adjust tension.
