9.7 Handling the reference and validation filters
Observe the following basic conditions:
• Try to avoid removing the reference filter from the filter holder!
• Do not change the filter's orientation inside the filter holder.
• Do not scratch the surface!
• For protection, store reference filters in the supplied filter protector when
not in use.
• Store them under exclusion of UV light in a dust and oil free place. The air
should be free of corrosive vapors:
• Storage temperature: 5 °C to 40 °C (41 °F to 104 °F)
• Air humidity: 0 % to 80 %
• Prior to every absorption measurement, visually inspect the filters for dust
or other soiling (e.g. fingermarks) and clean them if necessary. Carefully
remove any surface soiling capable of absorbing light or particles that
might scatter incident radiation:
• Carefully remove surface particles using a compressed air rubber ball
or a small soft cleaning brush that does not scratch the optical surface.
• Remove absorbing surface soiling using a non-polar solvent (e.g.
hexane) that is non-alkaline and free of surface-active agents.
