Bucking a Tree
This is the process of cutting a tree into
usable lengths and can be done as you are
limbing the tree.
If the tree is laying on the ground, ensure that
you do not get your saw blade caught in the
earth or on any other debris that may be present.
Stand uphill of the tree and make
sure you have a strong, firm even
stance on the ground. Be ready to
move quickly if the log rolls while
you are cutting.
A sawbuck or sawhorse makes
cutting a lot easier and safer.
