11.1. Sulphur hexafluoride SF
6
cpg.0 cubicles are designed as a hermetically sealed
pressure system containing sulphur hexauoride (SF
6
).
SF
6
is included in the Kyoto Protocol list of greenhouse
gases. SF
6
has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of
22,200 units (TAR, IPCC 2001).
At the end of the product's life, the SF
6
contained in it
must be recovered for processing and recycling, to prevent
it being released into the atmosphere. Extracting and
handling of SF
6
must be carried out by qualied personnel,
using a sealed piercing system.
The indications envisaged in Standard IEC62271-303 must
be followed for use and handling of SF
6
.
11.2. Recyclability
The management and treatment of the rest of materials
must be carried out in accordance with the current
legislation in the country of installation.
The materials that make up the cubicle (bases and front, gas
tank, circuit-breaker, switch-disconnector/earthing switch
and driving mechanisms) can be recycled. For further
information, please ask Ormazabal.
The bushings contain copper components which are
dicult to separate from the resin. Therefore, these are
treated as inert industrial waste together with the plastics.
